To Understand the Beginning of the Universe

Wide field long exposure photo of the milky wayMan has an incredible desire to learn of the beginnings of the universe.  He keeps searching for answers, willing to do almost anything to get them.  The latest is an infrared telescope, known as the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST), that is scheduled to be launched in October, 2018. Initially estimated to cost $1.8 billion dollars, the current estimate is over $8 billion dollars. This new telescope will likely reveal more about our universe, but it will not give the definitive answer on our origins.  Accurate information can only come from an eye witness: God.

God himself states that he created everything.

In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. – Genesis 1:1 (KJB)

God states that he was there at the beginning with Jesus (the Word). Two witnesses!

{1} In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.  {2} The same was in the beginning with God.  {3} All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.” – John 1:1-3 (KJB)

God’s glory is shown in the heavens.

The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork. – Psalms 19:1 (KJB)

The heavens declare his righteousness, and all the people see his glory. – Psalms 97:6 (KJB)

God will show evidence of himself in his creation.

For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: – Romans 1:20 (KJB)

It is interesting that the James Web Space Telescope will be looking at the infrared spectrum.  This is not naturally visible to the human eye. (Infrared light waves are outside the visual spectrum.) What it will be finding are “invisible things.” According to Romans 1:20, man will be without excuse as to the knowledge of God, even if man is not willing to admit it.

Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen. – Romans 1:25 (KJB)

Our origins come from God. The universe was created by God.

Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding. – Isaiah 40:28 (KJB)

Man will indeed see amazing things about the universe through this new telescope.  However, it will not change the fact that God is the Creator and man is the creature. We must turn to God and trust what he has told us in his word, the Bible.

God bless, Mike
