I am publishing a new feature on Close to Jesus called “Monday Memory Verse.” This will help all of us memorize scripture on a regular basis.
Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee. – Psalm 119:11 (KJV)
Each Monday, come to the website and get the verse for the week and memorize it. Practice it throughout the week until you have it perfect – word for word, including the scripture reference. Every four weeks or so, we will have a review round where you won’t memorize a new verse, but will review several verses you have memorized already.
Here are some tips:
- Write the verse on a 3″ by 5″ index card and carry it with you during the week. (Be sure to use the King James Version of the Bible.) You can pull the card out whenever you have a moment and work on the verse. The card is also useful in quizzing yourself.
- When memorizing, say the scripture reference first, then the verse and finally the scripture reference last.
- Work the verse in phrases rather than short groups of words. Try to get the flow of the words within the verse. You will sound more natural when you memorize this way.
- Have someone help you! You can get together with a spouse, friend or someone at church and help each other memorize your weekly Bible verse.
I pray that this will be a blessing to you as you memorize scriptures every week.
Mine eyes prevent the night watches, that I might meditate in thy word. – Psalm 119:148 (KJV)
God bless, Mike
