There is a verse (among several) that is missing from the New World Translation that is vital for people in the Jehovah’s Witnesses to consider. That verse is Acts 8:37.
The reason this verse is so important is that it speaks to Jesus being God, something that the Jehovah’s Witnesses deny. From the Jehovah’s Witnesses website:
However, we take Jesus at his word when he said: “
The Father is greater than I am.” (John 14:28) So we do not worship Jesus, as we do not believe that he is Almighty God.
Here is John 14:28:
Ye have heard how I said unto you, I go away, and come again unto you. If ye loved me, ye would rejoice, because I said, I go unto the Father: for my Father is greater than I. – John 14:28 (KJV)
This brings the question, does John 14:28 prove that Jesus is not God? The question gets even deeper when you consider Acts 8:37. This is one of the verses that is missing from the New World Translation: the Jehovah’s Witnesses’ bible translation.
And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. – Acts 8:37 (KJV)
Why would they remove this verse? Could it be because it says that “Jesus Christ is the Son of God”?
Compare the two versions:
If you are talking with a Jehovah’s Witness, ask them about this verse. If you are a Jehovah’s witness, ask yourself why is this verse missing?
God bless, Mike
