Consider Your Ways

In the book of Haggai, God is greatly displeased with Judah because the people had lost interest in finishing the temple. He tells them to look around at what is happening, as God is judging them. What are the people to do?

First:

Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Consider your ways. — Haggai 1:7 (KJV)

God showed them that they:

  • had sown much but brought in little
  • they eat but don’t have enough
  • they drink but are not filled
  • they have clothes but are not warm
  • they earn wages but their money slips away.

These are all signs that God’s blessing is not upon  them, but rather judgment! It does not need to stay this way.  The people did repent.

Then Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Joshua the son of Josedech, the high priest, with all the remnant of the people, obeyed the voice of the LORD their God, and the words of Haggai the prophet, as the LORD their God had sent him, and the people did fear before the LORD. — Haggai 1:12 (KJV)

May we do likewise if we have displeased God.

God bless, Mike
