When Samuel died, Saul took an action to make right with God. He put away those with a familiar spirit (spirit guides) and the wizards. Now Samuel was dead, and all Israel had lamented him, and buried him in Ramah, even in his own city. And Saul had put away those that had familiar spirits, and the wizards, out of the land. – 1 Samuel 28:3 (KJV, emphasis mine) Saul is trying to please God by his good works. He is seeking favor with God by doing what he thinks is right. However, God is not impressed with man working for his salvation. God requires repentance, which Saul hasn’t and never will do.
To me, this is the saddest verse in the Bible: The harvest is past, the summer is ended, and we are not saved. – Jeremiah 8:20 (KJV)

When you look forward to something good happening and that gives you joy because you have some expectation of obtaining it, you have hope. My dogs and cats have an expectation that I will feed them and boy does their hope give them joy! People have many kinds of hope, but in whom do you place your hope? When you take a journey, you hope to make it to your destination. You trust that your car and your ability to navigate and drive will get you there. When you face a difficult task, you have hope to complete it that gets better and better as you get closer to your goal. You are seeing that the expectations you have for yourself are coming to pass and your hope grows. What a wonderful feeling it is when that difficult task is done! In whom do you hope when life gets hard and things don’t go your way? What about eternity? What is your hope for life after death? In whom is your hope?

My wife and I recently watched a two-part video series from Mark Cahill called “The Fisherman’s Club.” It is a message on witnessing and sharing your faith based on Matthew 4:19. And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men. – Matthew 4:19 (KJV) In it, Mark gives instruction, encouragement and exhortation to witness the truth to a lost world. The fields are “white already to harvest.” In other words there are so many people lost in their sins and Christians need to be faithful to have conversations with these people and share the gospel with them. Each one of us is to do their part. “One soweth, and another reapeth.” God will give the increase.

I was saved through reading a Revised Standard Version (RSV) Bible that was given to me at confirmation when I was 14 years old. The words of Jesus spoke truth to me. I have come to know that the RSV is not a reliable Bible version. So what, or who, was it that spoke truth to me?

Something to think about: Do you want to live … in a chamber (Her house is the way to hell, going down to the chambers of death. Proverbs 7:27) – or – in a mansion (In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you . John 14:2)?

Most Christians have heard of George Muller and his adventures of faith. But faith has a co-worker, and that is prayer.
If there is one fact about God that the world wants you to doubt, it is that He is the Creator of all things. The world wants you to think that somehow everything just happened in a “big bang” and that event started evolutionary processes over eons of time that bring us to the present day. It just isn’t true.
