Love Me

The phrase, “love me” occurs nine times in the Bible.  This first time it occurs is in the account of Jacob and his wives.

“And when the LORD saw that Leah was hated, he opened her womb: but Rachel was barren.” – Genesis 29:31 (KJV)

There is one thing that Leah wanted from her husband, Jacob – that he would love her.

I love God

God Remembered

Hannah, who was barren, prayed to the LORD and asked: “if thou wilt indeed look on the affliction of thine handmaid, and remember me, and not forget thine handmaid” (excerpted from 1 Samuel 1:11 KJV). In verse 19 of the same chapter we are told: “the LORD remembered her”.

Hurry! Hurry!

Do you every feel that the ground is falling out from beneath your feet? I am speaking in the spiritual sense.  You can just feel yourself falling.  Hurry! Hurry!  Lord Jesus, help me! Make haste to help me, O Lord my salvation. — Psalm 38:22 (KJV)

When Judgment Comes

God’s judgment will be a fearful thing for all men. In fact, according to Revelation 6:16, men will want the mountains and rocks to fall on them rather than to suffer the wrath of God.

It is His Church, after all!

It is troubling to me that becoming a pastor is more reliant on completing a seminary education than many years of faithfully following God. It seems to me that years of faithful obedience, through times of trial and testing, is a better teacher than years of study.

To be close to God, you must be close to Jesus

How small I feel when flying in an airplane. The land below seems so big when I look out the window. Then I think about how tiny our planet Earth is in comparison to the Universe. I ask myself, “Am I really closer to God when I am 33,000 feet in the air compared to when I am standing on the ground?”

God is Seeking the Righteous

As Abraham stood with the Lord, looking towards Sodom and Gomorrah, we are given a glimpse into the great mercy of God. Abraham’s plea went out to God. If only ten righteous be found in these two cities, would God spare them? To this, God replied that he would not destroy them for the sake of ten righteous.

God is pleading with you to follow Him!

The memory of that “adventure” came back to me when I was meditating on a scripture from the book of Jeremiah. He is God’s man on the earth and is prophesying against Israel and Judah. Both Israel and Judah had lost their way. They have drifted from the ways of God and are caught up in the ways of the world. Yet, God does not give up on them.

Eternal Tragedies

Whenever a great disaster comes upon the Earth, people cry out to God and demand to know: Why? For many, they cry out to a god that will never hear them.
