Seven Bibles on a table.

God Provided 35 Bibles

My wife and a friend went to the city-wide garage sale in our local town. While they were out, my wife’s friend mentioned that they might be able to get a free Bible at a local church’s thrift store. They were close by, so they stopped in. A little while later I got a call from my wife asking if I would like some free used King James Bibles. After a short discussion, I said yes!

This website has existed since 2003, and has been sending out free Bibles since 2013. (We weren’t able to send out Bibles from late 2020 until we resumed in late 2024.) Since we resumed, Bible requests have been steady. My wife and I have been praying that God would supply Bibles, and he did! These 35 Bibles were a real blessing from the Lord.

It is critical that you read from a physical Bible and get away from distractions and devices. We get some requests for just that reason. People need to be alone with God for both Bible study and prayer. Jesus said,

(John 5:39) Ҧ Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.

We are also told in Psalms:

(Psalms 46:10) “Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.”

Charlie Kirk talked about why you need a physical Bible:

Here are the five reasons from the video for why physical Bibles should be brought back into the church:

  1. No Distractions

    • Reading a physical Bible prevents digital distractions like text messages or social media notifications that can pull attention away from God’s Word.

  2. Physical Connection and Uniqueness

    • The tangible weight, texture, and feel of a Bible create a unique relationship with it—something that can’t be replicated by a phone or digital device that serves many functions.

  3. Dedicated Purpose

    • A physical Bible is used exclusively for connecting with the Lord, unlike a phone that’s also used for entertainment, communication, and other distractions.

  4. Growth and Personal Record

    • A physical Bible reflects spiritual growth over time—through highlights, handwritten notes, and even tears on its pages—showing transformation through the Word.

  5. Historical and Enduring Authenticity

    • The physical Bible connects believers to the timeless tradition of reading Scripture as it was in the early church, providing an unchanging, lasting way to experience God’s truth.

Do spend time in God’s word. Pray that God will supply the Bibles and postage so we can send them to the people who need them and request them. If you need a Bible, you can request one here: https://closetojesus.org/free-bible/.
